| Description |

The Cherubini 48 represents the culmination of a design tradition that goes back to at least the 1850's. The famous schooner-yacht 'America' by George Steers may be considered the precursor to this line of yachts, and many of the defining characteristic lines and form of 'America' may still be seen in the Cherubini 48's of today. The basic hull form of 'America' was first taken in hand for updating by L. Francis Herreshoff, and his basic revisions were used in 'Tioga,' 'Bounty,' 'Ticonderoga,' the various 'Mobjack' ketches, and even the lovely little 'Araminta.' Herreshoff's update of the basic 'America' plan include a cutaway forefoot, refined lines (particularly around the afterpart of the hull and transom), modernized sailplan, and attention to classic living quarters and high-quality fittings. The Cherubini brothers have carried that tradition on with outstanding joinery work, even more modern sailplan (staysail schooner) and deck-fittings, and last but not least, have carefully blended a Scheel keel into the traditional long-keeled hull. The combination of these updates make the Cherubini 48's not only among the most beautiful, but also the most weatherly and among the fastest of all schooners, while only drawing a negligible 5' 6"! If you have always loved the beauty of the traditional schooners of old, but have always been concerned with their performance vis a' vis modern yachts, I strongly urge you to take a second look at the Cherubini 48! 'Robert Emmett' (hull #3), has always been acknowledged by the Cherubini brothers as one of the prettiest boats they ever built, and certainly the prettiest of the Cherubini 48's. 'Robert Emmett remains so to this day under the meticulous care of her original owner. A proven race-winner (Providence Great Schooner Race 2002, 2003, Figawi 1999, 2003), 'Robert Emmett awaits your inspection.
