The 50m steel-hulled ‘Galileo’ was designed completely in-house, and features over 500m2 of luxurious interior and 400m2 of open open deck space. The exterior of ‘Galileo’ was designed by veteran naval architects Yavuz Mete and Tansel Taskiran, while the interior Design was created by Osman Aslandere.

The initial brief for the designers at Aegean Yacht was to recreate the classic elegance of the schooners of the 1930’s and combine it with modern flair and high technology.

Stepping aboard, the decks are all finished in high-grade Burmese teak and stretch right around the vessel. On the main deck, wide sidewalks connect the vast aft dining and lounging area to the teaked foredeck where there is a good-sized Jacuzzi with yet more loungers. Ahead of the foredeck, the long bowsprit anchors three foresails and takes guests back to a much-missed bygone age when sailing was THE way to travel and relaxation was the order of the day. Such is the size of the foredeck that there is still room to store the yacht’s tenders while underway.

Back to the spacious aft deck, guests are entertained with a wet-bar, a full entertainment centre featuring a 42’’ plasma screen TV and a large dining area, where al-fresco lunches and dinners are frequently enjoyed. Further aft of the dining area, a huge ‘day-bed’ creates the perfect atmosphere for an afternoon siesta. This whole expansive deck area is covered with a huge sun awning, keeping the yacht cool even in the strong Mediterranean sun.

As if this was not enough deck space, stairs alongside the wide companionway lead up to the huge upper deck where sunbathing may be enjoyed while watching ‘Galileo’s beautiful white sails capture the wind.

‘Galileo’s three masts carry a sail area of 1,100m2, giving her the ability to make fast passages under sail. When the wind drops however, twin MAN 760 HP engines also propel the yacht at a generous pace.

The yacht’s stunning interior design can be best described as classic contemporary with the use of African cherry wood (Makore) throughout. Inside the 80m2 main deck salon, guests can take advantage of a highly spacious and luxurious environment with gorgeous carpet flooring providing luxury underfoot. In the main salon, there is another large dining table for twelve guests and two separate sitting areas where oversized sofas offer maximum comfort in a very relaxing atmosphere. All the carpets and the deck heads are furnished in light colours, contrasting beautifully with the rich woodwork evident throughout the yacht.

‘Galileo’ has five staterooms, all of which are located on the lower deck. Two of these are the luxurious owner’s and VIP suites, each offering a huge 60m2 of living space. The owner’s suite is located at the aft end and encompasses the full 10m beam of the yacht. This majestic stateroom features a king-size bed, a well-designed corner office as well as a make-up table and a sitting area with a semi-circular sofa. A retractable plasma TV is also sited right in front of the bed. The cabin’s decor is beautifully crafted with an abundance of high quality woodwork merging with luxurious fabrics and carpets creating a very intimate environment. Naturally, this stateroom also boasts an immense full marble en-suite bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi, as well as a walk-in dressing room.

Located at the bow, another equally large VIP suite is equipped to an equally luxurious standard. In between these two staterooms, there are two other double guest suites and one triple guest suite & a diving compartment, fully equipped with scuba compressors, diving gear and a hydraulic diving platform.

In total, more than 150 craftsmen and engineers were employed to create ‘Galileo’. The yacht has been designed and built to the classification standards of RINA . The result is an absolutely world-class yacht, which is supremely comfortable and hugely spacious. Classic, elegant, attractive and strong, she blends old-world charm with modern day technology and is without doubt a yacht that dreams are made of.
