Fast and powerful, 'Impulse' is set up for fast cruising, day-sailing, and for racing in either non-spinnaker or spinaker divisions with excellent performance in heavy wind and ocean events. Designed by Doug Peterson for IOR racing, 'Impulse' was launched in Dec 1978 and has had a fine racing record since in the local PHRF fleets here in Rhode Island, as well as a number of long-distance and series wins. 'Impulse has always been maintained to the highest standards in keeping with a champion thoroughbred racer, and is very strongly constructed of welded aluminum with longitudinal and athwartships framing. 'Impulse' sleeps eight in a simple layout with an enclosed head, a good galley, and plenty of storage for her crew. This yacht is fully equipped for racing or cruising with a very full sail inventory, and a large number of upgrades in recent years.
