Mainship Yachts, famous for its trawlers, is part of the Luhrs Marine Group. John and Warren Luhrs initiated the construction of a single diesel pleasure yacht that was geared toward fuel economy and family affordability, in light of the ongoing international fuel problems in 1977. The construction of Mainship yachts occurs in shared Luhrs facilities at St. Augustine, Florida, and an additional facility in Midway, Georgia. Today, Mainship builds two series of yachts – a selection of open express or hardtop sedans for the Pilot brand, and a choice of flybridge sedan or aft-cabin trawlers. The trawler yachts range from 36 to 47 feet, and the Pilot brand yachts have both 33 and 36 foot models.
