Nordic Yachts look surprisingly different from a typical cruising yacht of today, since they bear a striking resemblance to a tugboat! Nordic Tugs, started in 1979 by brothers Jerry and Jim Husted with Gail Davis, makes these motor yachts in Burlington, Washington. The design for the yachts is based on a prototype that Blue Water Boats of Woodinville, Washington built; Nordic Tugs eventually took over the manufacturing facilities and staff of Blue Water. The tugs have a link to Norwegian boating in the 19th century in structure and quality. Nordic Tugs are constructed with fiberglass semi-displacement hulls, which have hand-layered lamination. Nordic Tugs over the years have ranged from 26 feet to 54 feet long, with styles such as convertible, two-cabin, and northern/all climate within the sizes.
