1962 87 Feet AS Westermoen Matbyggeri & Mek Madal in Norway Twin Screw Tub

Description
This is a converted Ice Class ex push pull twin screw tug, originally built to Lloyds +A1class for ESSO, working the Norwegian coast line. This tug was owned by Esso Norway. In view of her strong construction and deep sea going qualities she is capable of serving a variable market outside the scope and potential of the average private yacht. The growing requirement and desire by certain clients to enjoy the safety and comfort of such a vessel makes this unique in the field of luxury marine transport. Ideal for adventure, discovery, exploration and research voyages as well the traditional luxury market. This vessel has undergone a substantial rebuild with modifications done and is now suitable for an owner to put an interior tailored to there own requirements. The owners have spent to date ( accounted for ) around 1.3 m Euro She is French vat paid. The owner would also be interested in a partnership deal and work the vessel. She requires around 700.000 Euro's to complete for cruising. The owner could complete the vessel for client here in France. They have a shipyard connection. She was built in Norway to Lloyds class +100A1 and launched 1964 for Esso in Norway. She worked the Norwegian Fiords pushing three large fuel barges. Her gear was very comprehensive and included aft towing hook and winches, Steam boiler, and unusually vast accommodation for long trips. Three ballast tanks could be used for internal machinery cooling in icy water conditions. Her fuel capacity of 20.000 liters and fresh water capacity of 20.000 liters together with 80.000 liters of seawater ballast fwd and aft, gives Baltic a formidable amount of liquid ballast and stability. Her original manning requirements for up to 14 crew were all comfortably housed in main deck or lower crew accommodation. Substantial insulation (rock wool or similar) ensured that the vessel stayed warm and comfortable. Most of this still exists today in good condition. A small amount of asbestos from the engine room was removed and she is free of such products. She was decommissioned around 1992 and sold to HCH services Ltd in March 1992 where she worked in the North Sea and River Thames under the new name of Lucinda. She was then sold to Marine Operations (an Irish gentleman) who kept her as standby project in Southampton waters. The current owner purchased her in July 2001. She was dry docked in 2002 where hull inspection first took place. No plating needed changing and she was given a clean bill of health comparatively. We continued to draw both shafts and all six rudders. (Yes six rudders). She has the two main rudders which are very big, plus four smaller flank rudders forward of the props. In the wheelhouse type steering bars replaced the traditional wheel. This arrangement enabled the helmsman to steer and or cross rudder directions in order to turn extremely comfortably. Owners removed the four-flanc rudders as unnecessary for our needs. All shaft, rudder bearings and oil bath seals were replaced and repairs of rudder shafts were undertaken. She was later towed across to Northern France where she was loaded onto a dock ship and transported to France. The owners continue the total refit program of the vessel in our spare time and enjoyment.
