Description of Vessel
In June 1992 Aluminum Boats & Fabrication of North Vancouvewr delivered this high performance coastal transport vessel to it's present owner. Intended for use as a fast commuter and business services vessel she can reach 46.5 knots and cruises at 42 knots. The hull and deckhouse are made from all-welded aluminum alloy and all linings, bulkheads partitions and most furniture are constructed from either Divinycell core or Nida-Core lightweight materials with GRP joints and facing and covered with decorative vaneerss, laminates or vinyl coverings. This is all to reduce weight. The vessel is laid out tastefully with a large air conditioned main salon incorporating a small galley/servery and the main control console. Below decks there is a spacious master stateroom, a guest stateroom, generous washroom, shower and ample storage lockers. Interior design was completed by McCutcheon & Arndt Design Consultants, Ltd. who had to work within strict limitations on materials due to severe weight control restrictions. One of the most impressive features of this high performance vessel is the yacht like finish achieved on the aluminum hull and superstructure. Built on light weight alloy, much of the deck house structure is 1/8th inch plate or less. The shipyard showed exceptional skill in maintaining a very strict fairness criteria established by the designers. She was finished with US Paints Awlgrip System. A Ban on tin based anti-fouling paints for aluminum hulls was a quandary for the owners/designers. The vessel has been coated with "International Paints VC Systems liquid speed biocidefree teflon coating and Aslippery Surface inhibits adhesion and at high speed the bottom is virtually self cleaning. The twin Detroit Diesel 16V-92 TA-DDEC diesel engines are each rated at 1,450 BHP at 2,300 rpm powers a driving pair of Hamilton Model 422 water jets. (These are the S generation of smaller, lighter and more durable premium marine diesels that dispite their compact size deliver greater power than their predecessors). Advanced component technology and standard features such as water-cooled turbochargers, innovative by-pass blowers, two-pass coolers, dual-drilled crankshafts, cross-headed pistons and unit fuel injectors, make for engines that run cool and reliable. The DDEC is an electronic control system used to optimize engine performance. Instrumentation is available at two levels of sophistication. The Liquid Crystal display and the Cathode Ray Tube system which includes an additional computer and is able to display all vital signs of the two DDEC engines and to interface with other electronics aboard the vessel. The propulsion system of modern water jets offer fuel efficiency better than most propeller systems at medium to high speed planing speeds. The vessel is equipped for A/C power throughout, served either from shore power or by a 20 KW Kohler generator which is acoustically enclosed. Considerable attention was paid in design to noise and vibration control, given the large power plants. The engines are mounted on Spring isolators with integral cushioned limit stops. The generator is also mounted in the same manner in it's sound proof enclosure. The engine room is insulated with sound proofing. The entire vessel is monitored by a V-Mac 3301 intigrated system from Sea Hornet Marine which provides warning of flood, fire, gas and intruders as well as mechanical troubles. She has a vacu-head system and sewage treatment center. Designed and Built by the best-----to be the best.
