This BH41 was constructed by Bashford Boats in Australia in 1995 and has sailed in many major regattas in the Southern and Northern Hemisphere. Great care was taken with its original specification and construction and maintenance as can be seen from her condition today.
Design
The Bashford Howison 41 was based on the hull design of a successful ILC 40 from the pen of Iain Murray.
The deck layout was designed to comply with the IMS Cruiser Racer rule and is practical and user friendly. The laminates were designed to American Bureau of Shipping scantlings which make for a strong light structure.
The design was first launched in 1994 in time for the 50th Sydney Hobart race in which there were nearly 500 entries. Hull #2 Raptor dominated the race and was placed first overall in a top fleet.
Winner
Its easily driven modern hull has allowed the BH 41 to excel under IMS (sistership Checkmate won European Championship in 2007) IRC and PHRF with successes to frequent to mention in all parts of the globe.
This BH41 has been in its present ownership since 2006 and her successes include 2nd overall Scottish Series 2007, winner Savills Kip regatta, Winners Cumbraes Regatta etc etc. Today she is a fast competitive yacht and offers the option of conventional spinnakers, asymmetric set up or a combination.
