The First 27.7 is a true racer-cruiser. It was designed by Groupe Finot (France) and built by the leading European yacht production company Beneteau. The design of the yacht is based on the popular Open 60 for which Groupe Finot is notorious. It was chosen European Yacht of the Year (2003) in the smallest class by the European press. OWNER COMMENTS: I bought this yacht because I believe its size and design were perfect for Mauritius. Mauritius lies in the cyclone area of the Southern Indian Ocean, and the lifting keel and custom-made trailer permit very easy and straightforward taking out of the water in case of imminent danger. The lifting keel and beaching legs (optional) also permit the yacht to be stored in the dry during winter (if required). This can be a huge money saver. I have upgraded the vessel for single-handed sailing. I frequently sail it by myself. We race occasionally at the club. It has an IRC rating of .974. I have done 3 passages to the neighboring island of La Reunion (134 nm one-way). The safety equipment on board is fully Cat B European standards. Unfortunately I have to sell due to health issues.
