The group was exceedingly successful, and in fact, so successful that the measurement system then in use was revised to make other competing boats more competitive. Having lost its edge, the owner traded this boat. The current owner used it frequently, making many round trips to the Virgin Islands for winter sailing. In the late 1970’s the vessel competed in the first Virgin Island Regatta, which it WON HANDILY. A great attribute of the vessel is that it points so well. It is able to make tacks of between 70 & 75 degrees. OWNER COMMENTS: Boat is in need of some work and the owner is unable to do the work himself. A great sailing ship on which I have made many round trips between Connecticut and the Virgin Islands. The boat is fast under sail and has a great feel at The helm. I must sell because I am moving away from the shore. Great buy with minor repairs and upgrades. The Westerbeke Diesel installed is a tremendous improvement over the Atomic 4’s which was the original equipment.
