This is a classic all wooden sailboat built in 1947, but restored to excellent condition. IDUNA is a Swedish racing design-Tumlaren Class. She is mahogany on oak, with a full deep keel. She is fitted with a Yanmar 1GM, Harken Furler, 3 sails, and all required safety gear. For the past four years she has been sailing out of Port Harbor Marine in South Portland, Maine. Last Surveyed in 2004. She is reliable, fast, and beautiful.
The Tumlaren racing class was designed in 1933 by designer Knud Reimers. Uffa Fox, the great British yacht designer, called the Tumlaren "the most advanced type of cruiser in the world." The balance of the characteristic bow and gracefully rounded stern coined the British usage of "Tumlaren stern." Fleets of this Tumlaren class eventually numbered 600 and were found in 24 countries. Today is quite a different story, with probably only a handfull in the US; others being in Australia, New Zealand, and the Scandanavian countries.
This is a unique opportunity to own a classic high performance wooden boat with a rich history. And if you don't care so much about the history, just daysail her with speed and grace
