| Description |
A classic French designed and built cruiser/racer from the early 1950's, 'Aquilon' has had a long and successful career as a racer in Europe and the Mediterranean, and as a cruiser in the Caribbean and along the New England coast as well! Now in storage in Maine for the Winter, 'Aquilon' represents the latest ideas of her period for a fast and comfortable yacht, with low freeboard, sleek lines blending into a canoe-stern, elegant sheer, long keel and beautiful teak joinery throughout. 'Aquilon' has had a few alterations in her long career, mostly involving equipment upgrades and a new rig (originally a yawl with wood spars, now a sloop with aluminum spars). The hull is built of African mahogany planking (1 1/4")on steamed oak frames, and the sails are quite new (by North in 2000). This combination of quality construction, elegance and performance is just not found in many boats built today (and certainly not at this price!), so if you have been thinking of a classic yacht in your future, we strongly urge you to consider 'Aquilon' in your calculations. Well-maintained by her current owner since 1996, 'Aquilon' awaits your inspection!
