'Nahma' is a difficult yacht for me to speak of objectively, as this is my absolute favorite kind of sailing yacht; a clipper ketch! Splendidly maintained, well-found and brilliant in every respect, 'Nahma' is in many ways a miniature version of the famous L. Francis clipper ketch, 'Ticonderoga!' While this yacht has many similarities to a number of different Herreshoff designs ('Nereia,''Mobjack,' 'Araminta' and others) it is in fact a subtle blend of each of these designs, and is in many ways better than any of them!
While this yacht IS built of wood (white oak and mahogany planking), the hull below the waterline has been carefully epoxied both inside and out in the mid-1980's, and while this is often considered to be a questionable practice, in this case the job was done properly and no evidence of rot is noted. A full pre-purchase survey was done on this yacht in 2005, and this can be made available to prospective buyers, as well as a list of improvements/repairs done since that time.
I reiterate that this IS a classic yacht in every sense of the word, and any new owner will find 'Nahma' to be sea-kindly, fast off the wind and guaranteed to turn heads in any harbor. As this yacht spent a couple years in Florida, the owner has added things like a full bimini and custom canvas covers for all the brightwork hatches, etc, which means this yacht shows just as nicely as you see in the photos (all taken by Topsail Yachts 06/20/08). Please have a look at the photos and full specifications for more information, and I think you will agree that 'Nahma' is one of the sweetest little yachts to slide down the ways in many, many years. The brightwork glows, the paintwork shines, and it is unlikely you could have anything like this made these days for less than $400K!
