You’ll always have ice for your sundowners! There is loads of storage for dishes, pot and pans, and appliances.
The salon has two long comfortable settees with 4” upholstered cushions, a drop leaf dining table for 6 people, and a bar and china closet. Three huge drawers and six louvered lockers provide storage for all the necessities and niceties of life. There is more storage behind and under the settees to hold provisions for months at a time.
Forward of the salon is the ‘den’. A full sized desk, with three drawers, one full file sized, keeps all your paperwork organized in one place. The settee pulls out to a double bed. Your guests will appreciate their own private head with large counter space and a linen locker on one side and built in hamper and storage locker and shelf on the other, as well as a separate shower room. A full length hanging locker is available in the companionway leading to this versatile stateroom.
Forward of the forward head is a the sail locker. Access is through a double door in the head as well as a 24" hatch in the deck. The anchor chain locker is forward of the sail locker.
The master stateroom is aft. You’ll sleep like royalty in the king sized berth, feel like a star making up at the vanity that features nearly full length mirrored storage behind it. A large opening port in the stern bulkhead behind the bed assures lovely breezes, along with the two ports on each side of the bed. A full length, double hanging locker and multiple drawers and lockers provide storage The artistically elliptical ensuite head has a tub alcove for leisurely soaking, a convenient electric head, a lavatory with vanity and two huge lockers, a large mirrored one above the lavatory, a louvered one behind the head. Both heads have the option of fresh water flushing to avoid the marine head odor caused by salt water flushing.
The cockpit has a fiberglass hardtop with mood and reading lights incorporated. The cockpit table folds down and can be extended with foldout leaves when upright. An additional table can be added aft of the helm for a really big party. There is full reclining room on the seats on each side of the cockpit for lazing in the cool ocean breezes. Coaming lockers are full length of cockpit, to keep your fishing equipment and other odds and ends handy.
Now that you see how comfortable you can be , lets look at safety and equipment. The navigation station is located to the left of the companionway. The large forward facing work surface easily holds large charts. There is a tin lined locker outboard of the nav table to hold your expensive electronic equipment during lightning storms. An Icom M126 VHF, an Icom M710 SSB, Foruno radar , Northstar GPS with chartplotter, and Heart Interface Link 2000-A are installed on the outboard bulkhead. In addition, there is an Interphase forward sweeping sonar with color display and a Lowrence GPS with color chartplotter installed in the cockpit to keep information at hand on passages. The wind, depth, speed instruments are located in the cockpit dashboard easily seen from anywhere in the cockpit.
Originally, the chainplates were glassed in through the caprail and between the hull and interior joiner work. This disturbed the marine engineer-captain, as they could not be inspected. After dubious x-rays of the chainplates failed to ease his mind, new 10 mm stainless steel chainplates were fabricated and installed on the outside of the hull, through bolted through the old, buried chainplates. All rigging is dieform wire.
The original teak decks were removed and replaced with fiberglass and non-skid, making the boat lighter and much cooler below.
So, if you want to sail the world in confidence and comfort, this is the Liberty 49 for you.
