Originally built in 1990 as a replica of the Victorian “gentleman’s” racing yacht, one can actually see the shape of the planking in the GRP where the hull was laid up using an original boat as the mould. At first glance it is difficult to tell that she’s not actually carvel built.
The classic lines, the deep cockpit and beautifully shaped stern all add up to great sea keeping and a pretty smart performance under sail – the owner says he loves to take her to sea when the weather is “lively.”
The sailing purists among you will love this boat, and for not very much money you can own a yacht that will draw admirers wherever she goes, and maybe get you a gong or two at the Old Gaffers meetings.
She has accommodation for four in comfort, five at a pinch, secure and well laid out, so weekends, even weeks, away are on the cards.
Her sails and rig are in good order, with the huge flexibility allowed by the cutter rig. She has a mainsail (two slab reefs) a furling jib, 2 staysails, a jib topsail, a gaff topsail and a large lightweight “ghoster” for wafting you down to Cowes for a Pimms and a cucumber sandwich (or for a pie and a pint if you’re anything like me)!
This is what life is all about.
Note: Offers on the asking price may be considered.
