The venerable twenty-five foot Cape Dory of renowned solid construction with a full keel for steady sailing in rough seas. Despite its small length, this vessel displaces just over five thousand pounds to assure the Captain and his crew extremely comfortable sailing.
The main sheet is end boom mounted to provide unobstructed trimming in the cockpit. A Harken furler provides easy headsail size changes from 150% down to 70%.
This vessel has a one-cylinder Yanmar diesel with three blade prop. While small, this engine has Yanmar’s acknowledged reliability and one may sail all summer season using barely just one tank of diesel fuel. Yet this engine is powerful enough to propel the vessel in the strong currents of Hell’s Gate in New York City.
The forward cabin has a very roomy enclosed head and the cabin itself boasts of nearly six feet of head room. A pulpit, pushpit, and life lines make for safe excursions to the bow in poor conditions.
