Sonship Yachts had its conception in 1967 by Ben Vermeulen. West Bay has grown to a seven-building complex in Delta, British Columbia, Canada, and is the largest manufacturing facility of its type in Canada. West Bay also employs a small staff at Bellingham, Washington to build hulls and decks. SonShip yachts are semi-custom luxury motoryachts built in fiberglass, ranging from 63 feet to 106 feet in length, and West Bay has the capability of holding yachts up to 160 feet long. Engineering of SonShip yachts is important to the Vermeulen family, evident in the use of advanced software programs to deliver up-to-date CAD designs for virtually every part of the yachts. All SonShip yachts undergo incessant monitoring of weight and balance during the construction phase, to optimize performance.
