1973 Bonito 26 CC
- Stock #055228 -
This Dick Lema design will turn heads while making Rampage and Bertram owners jealous. Her very deep V and very wide beam (11'3") will take you anywhere. The owner of this vessel had amazing stories to tell; so when this POP associate visited to inspect and photograph this vessel, I could have spent (listened) all day. How about this - the vessel in motion, nearly vertical to the water with only the bottom of the stern, trim tabs and prop touching the water, with a slight throttling to bring her back horizontal. Puts these other boys to shame.
Most in the New England area will remember the Tillotson-Pearson name or possibly the Bonito Boat Company. These were the builders of the few remaining Bonitos anywhere. Designer Dick Lema was a household name for boat designing and building around Washington County (Narragansett, Jamestown, Westerly areas) dating to the Fifties. Often referred to as 'Lema's Rampage', the Bonito simply can't be outdone for seaworthiness and durability.
This Beast of the East was re-powered in 1992 with a Marine Power inboard which has been maintained by her mechanical engineer owner. She has been out of the water since last fall, started regularly on the hard beginning this spring (2014).
Her most recent improvements and maintenance can be found below under 'Condition'. Suffice it to say, she is ready to go fishing, in a big, beasty way.
