Cape Dory was built in Amityville, NY and was known as the 28 Cruiser.  She rides on a semi-“V” hull with a full keel and a single engine.  Made of laminated fiberglass throughout the Cape Dory 28 is a solid pocket flybridge cruiser.  Currently owned by the second owner, this 28 spent the early years on Lake Erie and then moved to Southport, NC where she was purchased in 1999.  The seller has maintained her well and it shows.  The boat was repainted in 2007 with white topsides and beige non-skid decks.  The owner’s change of plans dictates the sale.

From the cockpit you can access the wide side decks by stepping up the port or starboard side built in step.  The side decks offer easy maneuverability to the bow for anchoring or line handling.  In the cockpit sole is a large lazarette that gains access to the rudder and steering mechanisms.  There is a teak swim platform with a folding swim ladder as well.  On the port side and forward in the cockpit is a stainless steel ladder with teak treads leading to the bridge.  The bridge is protected with a blue Sunbrella bimini with stainless steel supports.  The helm seats will seat three and there is room aft of the seat for an additional folding chair.  The helm offers excellent 360 degree visibility making docking a breeze.  Back to the cockpit and forward on the starboard side is a sliding teak entry into the salon.  The salon has a nice settee to port with storage beneath and a bi-fold table that neatly stores in the aft bulkhead.   The starboard side is open with two large storage cabinets in the bulkhead and forward is the lower helm.  The lower helm is nicely appointed and also offers excellent visibility.  The port and starboard windshields have wipers while the center windshield will open for added ventilation.  All the salon windows are aluminum with sliding glass and screens making ventilation easy.  Down one step and along the port side is the head with an electric flush toilet, stainless steel sink, vanity, ample storage and mirror on the aft bulkhead.  Along the starboard side is the “L” shaped galley with white countertops and teak fiddles, dual voltage refrigerator/freezer, single stainless steel sink, and an electric and alcohol 2 burner stove.  There are ample storage cabinets and drawer spaces.  The electrical panel is above the galley on the aft bulkhead.  All the way forward is the “V” berth cabin.  Privacy is attained by the use of a sliding curtain.  The “V” berth is large and offers a filler cushion to become a double berth.  Along the outboard port and starboard bulkheads there are storage cabinets with sliding doors and forward a built in storage area.  There is a hanging locker to port with a shelf above and access into the head.

The interior of the 28 features teak bulkheads and cabinet trim, teak and holly flooring and beautiful matching fabrics.

Located down a step and along the starboard side the “L” shaped galley offers ample storage and food preparation spaces.
