Oz is a proven cruising/live aboard vessel with numerous upgrades. Her current owners have cruised on her up to six months a year (stored on hard and covered the rest of the year), for the last 13 years and maintained her in excellent condition. The two previous owners sailed Oz for 20 years on the Great Lakes during the summers and stored on land for the off season. Previous to 2002, she was a fresh water boat used only for 4-5 months a year.

The Gulfstar 44, designed by Lazzarra,  has a long fin/modified full keel with a skeg hung rudder. She is a cutter rig with roller furling Genoa and Main sails. She has all the features a serious sailor wants for long distance cruising, but she can be a showpiece for anyone who wants to live on her in a Marina. This vessel has a great design for coastal cruising, blue water sailing or simply spending a year or more in the Caribbean. She has enough displacement to make her comfortable in a good blow, yet a large enough sail plan to crank off the miles on those long passages.

This  is a beautifully maintained example of a very comfortable cruising yacht that can be easily sailed by a couple and conveniently sleeps six.

We encourage you to read the full specifications to see what an outstanding cruiser the Gulfstar 44 is and then call us to arrange a showing.

Gulfstar 44 Review: One of the Best Designs Ever

,As center cockpit designs go the Gulfstar 44's are hard to beat. The extra large salon provides a focal point for easy socializing with a dining table that will sit 6 comfortably. The galley flows naturally from the companionway and with the U shape it provides a secure place to prepare meals in any sea conditions. With the slight stepdown it affords full standing headroom for even a 6' 6" cook. On the opposite side, a large forward-facing navigation station with dedicated seating for the navigator is positioned so as to communicate efficiently with the helmsman. A long passageway aft does triple duty -- first, by providing outboard storage lockers in abundance; second, by providing an access point to the engine room and mechanical systems; and third, by assuring complete privacy for owners occupying the aft stateroom. The Owners stateroom has a large aft berth that sleeps two comfortably with 6'5" plus berths.  Can be converted back to a king size bed with insert and cushion. There is lots of storage with hanging locker, drawers and shelves.  There is an ensuite head with separate shower.  At the opposite end of the salon is a large V-berth and a second head compartment for guests with two entry doors, one from the salon and the other from the forward cabin. Throughout the boat, the joinery work is of a high quality, and ventilation is superb, with 11 opening ports and four opening hatches.

  • Teak bi-fold companionway entry door and sliding hatch
    Teak and holly sole
Bench settee to starboard, L shaped settee to port with storage behind and under the settee
    Designer fabric on salon cushions
Large Teak drop leaf dinette table
Custom wine cabinet and extra drawers
Cane front cabinet doors in salon
Brass oil lamps, Brass dolphins, Art work
    TV w/digital stream converter
    Sentry Safe bolted into cabinet
Large hanging lockers, shelves and ample storage throughout

The U-shape galley is a joy to cook in at the dock or underway. The shape of the galley makes it safe and comfortable to prepare meals in virtually any sea conditions. The fridge/freezer is enormous at 11 cubic feet. The large Shipmate 3-burner propane stove with large oven makes baking a pleasure. Large deep double stainless steel sinks and large amounts of storage cabinets both upper & lower.

New Bottom paint March 2016  Trinidad SR paint applied

All bottom paint was removed in 2004 and the bottom was barrier coated at that time.  Prior to that the boat was in fresh water in Canada.  There has not been a blister on this vessel since the current owners purchased the boat 15 years ago.

Having owned a 44 Gulfstar and sailing it through the Caribbean, I can attest to the quality of these vessels. This is truly one of the nicest 44 Gulfstars I have ever seen.  If you are interested in a very excellent cruiser and a great live aboard vessel you owe it to yourself to see this one.
