This Olson 30 is an Ultra-light displacement sailboat designed by legendary builder George Olson at pacific Boats Inc in Santa Cruz, California. As a surfer and sailor he decided on the design in 1977 while racing in the Transpacific Race from California to Hawaii.He continued to build 246 Olson 30s still race competitively around the world in both PHRF and one design classes today.
True to its pedigree, this Olson 30 has proven its light air advantage in many PHRF races since its move to the east coast. This boat has been upgraded with a double spreader rig (Ballenger spars) Jock straps and the fabled "Beam of Destinity " to enhance the hull stiffness. The vessel is built with a polyester resin E glass and end grain balsa core in the hull and deck.
The keel was cast with lead and the stock rudder has a fiberglass and foam sand which with a solid fiberglass shaft.
