1960 Mays Craft 34
1960 Mays Craft 34, Built by famed Mayea Boat Works, Soft Touch exemplifies fine workmanship combined with two dedicated owners. The first owner went on to own four Mays Crafts. The current owner of almost 20 years has decided it is time for something new. Her vintage appearance is deceptive as she feels like a much newer vessel with continuous upgrades to the electrical system, appliances, air conditioning, and overall condition and always with topnotch care. She is built on a hard chine, modified V, planning hull with single planked mahogany and oak battens. The bottom is double planked 3/8" marine plywood with 1/2" mahogany planking. Frames are white oak and stringers are fir. The cabin top has a fiberglass overlay. Consider these comments by Matthew Morman, AMS/SAMS Marine Surveyor, of Morman Marine Survey: "This rare, custom vessel has been maintained and updated periodically by the manufacturer, Mayea Boat Works, in a professional manner with excellent craftsmanship that has endured time. It is a rare example of the higher level of care commissioned by her owners and executed by those with intimate knowledge of the original construction and the methods required to achieve a consistent product for the 55 years of service by this vessel." Matthew surveyed the boat just last year for the purpose of condition and valuation prior to the boat being put on the market. Shown only by appointment to pre-qualified prospects. Trades considered.
