Like all Sundancers, the look of the Sea Ray 330 is based on a design theme established for the company's express cruisers in the early '90s. The lines are flowing and smooth, avoiding the overly round or bulbous look of some express cruisers of the era. Sea Ray had a hit and stuck to it faithfully.
The owners of this boat said one of the features that drew them to the 330 was the layout of the cockpit and it's easy to see why when stepping aboard. Not only are the fore and aft facing seats great for entertaining, but the aft facing seat also has storage in the back and base. The battery switches are tucked away in here as well, making them more accessible than in the engine compartment. Additional small item storage and the washdown hose are located in a starboard gunwale locker.
Up one small step, the helm features a comfortable adjustable double helm seat. The helm layout is clean and simple, with the controls readily at hand and a tilt wheel for sitting or standing comfort.
The engine instruments are located in the upper binnacle, where they are easy to monitor. Electronics are flush mounted and all critical system switches are front and center. Rounding out the cockpit amenities is a single companion seat ahead of the refreshment center with icemaker, a storage locker, waste bin and sink with pressure water.
So the cockpit can be enjoyed in all weather conditions, the owners of the test boat redesigned and upgraded the canvas to suit their needs for extended stays on board. The state of canvas or a detailed look at its design and functionality is often overlooked when boat shopping, but it is really an expense you may wish to consider when shopping the used market.
On deck, Sea Ray employs top-grade hardware with four-bolt stainless cleats, solid stainless steel handrails and bow rails. The 330 came with a standard windlass and anchor.
One of the things 330 Sea Ray owners always comment about is how much they enjoy the layout down below and the owners of this Sundancer were no exception. The 330 has a generous queen berth forward with a privacy curtain. It has a large dinette that seats four comfortably for dinner that also converts to a berth for two. The open concept mid-cabin has a great seating arrangement for lounging around that also converts to a queen berth.
Another popular Sundancer feature is the galley. The 330 has plenty of counter space, a built-in microwave, lots of storage, a large sink and a two-burner electric range. The drawers in the galley are exceptionally deep "an oversight on many boats. In fact, the owners commented on the good storage available throughout the boat.
The single head is an easy-to-maintain all-fiberglass, and is a reasonable size for a 33-foot express cruiser. There is a vanity, sink, shower, power vent, medicine cabinet and a VacuFlush head.
