a beloved family treasure must go!

CT 41 Ketch Fiberglass Hull, 49' with bowsprit.

The Family is selling their much loved TA CHIAO. The seller told me "This is a a much loved sailboat which has taken us many summers to Desolation Sound BC and The Queen Charlotte Islands. She is an amazing boat and has endured many an open water storm.

If you study the photos, you will see a very rare type of old-world craftsmanship throughout. She is believed to be solid and capable of offering a discriminating owner many years of pleasurable sailing.

Basic Features:

She has a 6.5 foot keel and is sturdy in bad weather.

The diesel engine, Yanmar 4 cylinder diesel turbo, Hurst Transmission, 4,000 hours which is less than half life. It is in great condition.

She was built in Taiwan in 1974 and has a beautiful dragon carved across the galley. She sleeps seven to nine people.

The Decking is TEAK laid over fiber-glassed cored decks and Bulkheads are Mahogany plywood with veneer. Ballast is encapsulated cast iron keel weighing some 9000lbs.

Engine cooling is raw water and heat exchanger

She can offer a great lifestyle and comes with a lot of sound equipment to someone who can put a few months fiberglass work. She also needs new sealant
on the decks.

She has a circuit breaker panel, shore power cord, Ship's Power hook ups, and navigation lights.

Also on board......VHF, Compass, Depth Instrument, Radar, and a hand-held spotlight.

Thanks for looking.

ConditionNote: the boat has been decommissioned for overland transport....masts are down. Therefore, a full water trial is not available at this time. Seller says a surveyor can start up the engines, etc, but vessel cannot be sailed at this time. The decommissioning will save a buyer approximately $2000 of de-com expenses. There is some cabin rot around the base of the cabin and rotten spreaders on the main mast. The bowsprit needs replacing.

Owner hauled the boat and did two bottom paint jobs in March of 2015.

The through holes were checked and were all reported sound.
