- Stock #100933 -
Have you ever dreamed of life on the high seas? This is a rare opportunity to own a very rare and sought after Classic Schooner. Docked in beautiful Washington, North Carolina this vessel is a 72' Gaff Rigged Schooner of Merrit Walter Trade Rover design. She is a classic design based upon the famous working class schooners of the Seventeen and Eighteen Hundreds with the splendid addition of modern navigational equipment for safety.
This schooner began life in 1980 and was constructed in Plattsburgh, NY. She was Coast Guard licensed in 1984. The boat began its sailing life as a day charter on Lake Champlain, and later on Biscayne Bay, FL. In 1987 she made a Panama Canal transit to the Galapagos Islands. In 1988 she began sailing from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to the Bahamas on 8-day eco-tourism trips. She was later sold and moved to North Carolina where she is currently used as a charter vessel for day and weekend excursions.
Fully equipped with navigating electronics and all the comforts of home, she offers spacious decks with seating for up to 25 passengers. Accommodations below decks provide comfort and convenience, full heads with showers, sleeping quarters for 15 passengers and a full galley.
When not in full sail she has a robust Detroit Diesel engine that can push her for days at nearly 9 knots when the wind gets lazy. The engine was completely rebuilt in October of 2015. Maintenance records are available on this nice vessel upon request.
These boats are very rare and difficult to come by and she deserves a look.
