The Soverel 28 was originally designed for open ocean racing on the MORC circuit and was proven almost unbeatable when sailed by experienced competitors. The large 10' cockpit seats up to 8 for weekend sailing or provides ample room for a crack racing crew. This fiberglass boat has classic teak and mahogany trim and working parts. Rub rails, combing, cleats, hatches, companionway, screens, interior trim, folding table, chart table, head door and vanity, galley and cabin sole; all beautiful varnished teak and mahogany.

Beginning to experienced boaters will find the Soverel 28 to be the ultimate day sailor with comfortable seating for 6/8, easily handled by 2(owner has handled by himself), safe and stable: when the rail is down she goes no further. Her huge cockpit is self-bailing and has never taken solid water. Her shoal draft makes her a great gunkholeing. She is fun to sail and at her best to windward.
Below deck are four 6'3" berths, V-berths forward. Head is next to aft port, galley opposite)sink and place for propane stove). Owner replaced the stove with a butcher block food prep board. A propane burner could be reinstalled. There is a propane locker buil-in at stern. Sink with powered water supply and storage below. Quarter berths aft with ample seating at bulkhead folding table. Cabin headroom is 5'2". Small chart table. Storage under berth. Fuse box, new VHF fixed radio with mast top antenna. Shelves have been added as well for extra storage.
The head is a Wilcox Crittenden, holding tanks(no direct overboard discharge). Clean and easily maintained. Washroom sink with powered water supply, medicine chest, mirror and shelves. Closed door for privacy.
Engine is a Universal Atomic Four rate 30HP @3500 RPM. Upgraded oil filter, raw water filter and electric ignition, top cylinder automatic lube. Stainless steel exhaust to water injection point, copper tubing and steam hose to muffler. Direct drive 11.5x8 Gori geared folding prop. Cruises comfortably at 1200 RPM. Primary and secondary fuel filters. Gauges include tachometer, oil pressure, ammeter, voltmeter, hour meter and temperature. Two batteries are switchable to engine and/or house. West voltage divider.
On deck there are 30" stanchions, lifelines, bow and stern pulpits. Cockpit and teak floorboard/gratings. Tiller steering with auto helm. Compass, depth sounder, teak rail caps, coamings, handrails and main hatch. Companionway sliding cover and bin boards. New 13# Danforth, 10' steel rode w/ 200' of new anchor line. Barient 2 speed jib sheets, spinnaker winches and main sheet control behind the tiller. Cockpit is 10' long with 5 built-in storage lockers, lazarette with new teak cap (2014). Plenty of spare snatch blocks and rail trucks. Companionway screens and foredeck hatch. Stub bowsprit for easy anchor handling. Several dock poles, spinnaker pole and classic teak cleats on foredeck and coaming.
Full batten mainsail and spare main, mast is 28'10" high, 135% genoa with new Harken roller furling and new head stay. Large asymmetrical drifter with ATN 'snuffer.' Areas: Main 170 sq. ft. Genoa 256 sq. ft. Small Jib 167 sq. ft. Drifter 320 sq. ft.
