A sophisticated cruiser/racer with a reputation for superb light wind performance because of its tall solid rod rigging with double spreaders. The Express is a very well balanced boat combining spirited sailing with civilized comfort. The designer Steve Killing was Canada's America's Cup designer in the 80's. The helmsman has seating to leeward or windward and downwind behind an oversized Edison pedestal wheel.
Seller is moving on due to age and ability to move around the boat as needed. It is a bittersweet decision for him, but it is time. She has only sailed in fresh water. Original owner. Free & clear title.
8 plus passenger capacity, with room for 5 to sleep (3 in cabin & 2 in v-berth). 25 gallon water capacity, 2 sinks with water on demand. Cabin berths are 6' 4" long and v-berth 6'6" long. All cushions are 4" high density foam with zippered removable covers. 20 gallon waste capacity.
Inboard Yanmar 2 cycle inboard engine. Engine panel recessed in cockpit with gauges and buzzers. Fresh water cooling system. Cruise speed approx. 7 knots. 15 horsepower with conventional drive. Cone clutch type gearbox. Engine mountings are flexible. 15 gallon fuel aluminum tank capacity with shut off vented aft through transom. 12v 35amp alternator. Fixed two blade prop on shaft. Burns diesel fuel. Extra Martec folding prop for racing. Engine access through port & starboard seat lockers & access panel behind ladder. Wet type exhaust system using hose to stainless water lift muffler. Prop shaft is stainless steel, water lubricated through bronze stuffing box.
2 batteries. Main system 12 volt DC throughout & two position master battery switch. Steaming light on mast. FM/AM cassette radio sound system. Engine Kill Switch 10 interior 12v lights. Circuit breaker panel. Mast chain plate grounded to keel bolts. Shore power cord 110v. 5 110v outlets. Accessory fused switch panel. Compass light. Navigation lights are International regulation lights, bow and stern.

Microwave, 12 volt on demand water at galley and head sink, Fridge/Freezer, 4 drawers under galley counter area and drop leaf dinette table. The cabin sole is striped teak and holly. Enclosed marine head with 20 gallon holding tank. Large dry food locker and large insulated ice box in galley area. 6 ft. plus standing headroom. Large hanging locker. All berths have storage underneath. Mirror, medicine cabinet and shelve in head. Large "T" comfortable cockpit with oversized Edison wheel steering.

The hull and deck are full balsa core to minimize weight. Double lifelines complete with pelican hooks aft with soft passenger back pads.
Bilge pump hand operated with removable handle mounted in cockpit well. 2 fire extinguishers. Safety Harnesses. 12v plug-in searchlight. Parachute sea anchor to slow speed. Orion signal flare kit. Teak hand rails, with in cabin overhead grab rails. Many life jackets in different sizes.
SAILING & RIGGING GEAR
Main Sail is Dacron and has three reef points and light weight boom section with two internal slab reefing lines lead aft to cockpit. Head Sail is Dacron with Harken roller furling, controls lead aft to cockpit for reefing and furling. Extra older mylar Genoa. Cruising spinnaker gear with whisker & spinnaker poles and adjustable pole traveler on front face of mast. Low lead head sail lead cars adjustable on 'T' tracks. 4 Meissner and 2 Merriman winches all two speed.
All halyards and lines are led aft to cockpit through line stoppers 'Express Style' for easy single handing. Faired rudder with stainless steel shaft. Jackstay hardware to control mast. Mast is a D section anodized aluminum spar complete with double spreaders. Split backstay with block & shackle. Rod rigging on all shrouds. Rigid mechanical boom vang by Performance Marine Tech. Staysail and gear with adjustable track on foredeck. Ball bearing main sheet traveler complete with control lines. External lead keel completely faired. Shoal ballast 3800 lbs.
