Located in the sailing capital of the world! Just a short ferry from Tortola

Splendid example of this popular luxury cruiser. Prime Directive has been lovingly cared for by her very knowledgeable owners with several improvements and upgrades done over the past few years. She is seriously offered for sale at a very reasonable price as the owners have moved on to a different life mission having enjoyed Prime Directive during their extensive live-a-board cruising experience. Courtesy showings available and offers strongly encouraged

Manufacturers Description

The concept and construction of the Oceanis 461 is directly linked to the Oceanis range experience. Owing much to her predecessors, whether in terms of her dimensions, the technology used, or aesthetic and practical choices, the Oceanis 461 fits perfectly into Beneteau's cruising range. Her long hull, designed by Bruce Farr and Associates, has great potential for impressive speed while giving that quiet, powerful sensation only felt on board true offshore cruising yachts. The structure of the Oceanis 461 is based on the same principles that have made such a success of the whole range; the bonded and laminated inner molding ensure the best possible spread of rigging and keel loads throughout the hull. Her rigging is also classic and efficient. A masthead furling genoa (drum on deck) guarantees the necessary power for an easy passage. The semi-full battened mainsail is equipped with lazy jacks, facilitating both furling and sail reduction when necessary. An optional furling mainsail is also offered. The deck layout reflects the spirit of comfort and efficiency that has prevailed in the Oceanis 461 from her conception: teak-capped bulwark for elegance and safety, electric windlass half recessed into the anchor well, large sunbathing area forward, uncluttered side decks with chain plates centered against the coachroof, and a teak deck option. The cockpit is easily accessible via a door in the transom which is also equipped with deep lockers. The wheel steering position has a full console, to which a large cockpit table with hinged flaps and icebox is joined. The Oceanis 461 is available in 4 cherrywood (teak as an option) accommodation layouts, arranged around the saloon. There are 7 opening deck hatches and 12 opening portholes. The galley has numerous baskets and lockers, a fridge - freezer in two compartments, and large independent head compartments (up to three depending on the layout selected).

Vessel Walkthrough

In 2004 the wetted surface of the hull was stripped completely for thorough gelcoat inspection. It was found to be in excellent condition, free of any blisters or de-lamination. Very minor (dime-sized or smaller) nicks were faired along with the keel, using the West System. After fairing, the entire surface was barrier coated using Interlux 1000 and 2000 products, then, finished with Interlux Micron 66 bottom paint. The re-application of Micron 666 has continued annually since, resulting in an absolutely beautiful bottom surface. New cutlass bearing and propshaft water seal at engine end were re- newed in 2006. Rudder shaft bearings were replaced in 2005. All the keel bolts were replaced with new in 2004 for preventive maintenance.

The boot stripe is done in a 2 color/3 stripe pattern of 1” gold over 4” of gloss black over a lower 1” gold on a white hull with a flat black bottom. The freeboard area shows very little wear and tear in its original white surface. She has received an annual buff and wax prior to each of its 4-5 month seasons in the water. She is stored on the hard for the rest of the year when not in use.

The vessel’s entire interior lighting was upgraded with Imtra marine fixtures in 2008.

Entering the starboard side main salon, the custom upholstered coconut colored seating for six is around the teak dining table which drops down to create a large sleeping area. The fill cushion is upholstered in the same custom fabric as the settee. Custom black and gold throw pillows and antique gold window treatments detail the cherry veneer cabinetry and nav station. The upper portholes, the lower port-lights and hatch give a bright, airy and open feel to this ample space with its 6’4” + headroom. A Sony CDX-L300 CD-R/RW stereo system provides music.
