General Details

Boston Whalers have long been considered among the best oceangoing boats on the market. But sporty they are not. Sure, they are able to handle rough water, slamming their way through rollers so big they scare all aboard. And they can take you out and bring you back alive (although not necessarily dry). But sporty? Hardly. That all changed with the Boston Whaler Temptation 2500. A cuddy cabin cruiser featuring a big four-person cockpit with comfortable seating and a huge foredeck. The sizable cabin boasts ample sitting headroom, plus two facing settees fore and aft with a removable center berth extension. The boat has the Whaler Drive system. It's an outboard motor mount bracket made by Boston Whaler in its own factory. Construction is the same as the Boston Whaler: an inner and an outer shell of hand-laid fiberglass with liquid foam injected between. When the foam has cured, the bracket is as strong and indestructible as the boat itself. The bracket is bolted to the transom, extending a good 30 inches behind the boat.It gives more room inside the boat because no wet well is needed. Also the bulk of the motor is outside of the boat, so none of it is overlapping the boat's cockpit. The Whaler Drive also manages to circumvent the drawbacks of other bracket mounting systems, particularly that of weight distribution. A V-4, V-6 or V-8 outboard weighs from 300 to 600 pounds. Hang that on a bracket extending 30 inches behind the transom of a lightweight, 25 foot planing hull, and the result could be a serious case of imbalance. The bow may be raised to a point where the boat is difficult to control. Not so with the Whaler Drive. The entire bracket is a foam-filled flotation device. As the weight pushed it down in the water, the bracket picks up buoyancy and supports the stern of the boat. This Boston Whaler Temptation 2500 is sharp and sporty. The cabin is big, spacious and airy for a boat this size, with an acrylic glazed hatch in the overhead that opens our onto the foredeck. The gelcoat lined bunk pads have plenty of stowage space underneath, and there's more space under the two facing sofas. Beneath the bunk is a cabinet for a Port-a-Potty, with an upholstered bunk extension that covers it when it's not in use. The cockpit contains pedestal seating for the pilot and navigator, and a full-width settee in the rear that can seat two or three more people comfortably. This rear seat features an insuled console cooler with two drink holders in its top. The intire console is carpeted with the same fabric used on the cockpit sole and bulkheads. It include a ski tow pylon, a stereo music system, windshield wiper and a color coordinated cover, plus a host of other items. It also just happens to be capable of handling the roughest of ocean water with ease. This listing has now been on the market 30 days.
