1941 38 (ft.) MATTHEWS 38 Cabin Cruiser

This classic Matthews Cabin Cruiser is a true beauty. Currently being professionaly restored at a shipyard that specializes in wooden boats, this is much more than a typical project boat. Over 2000 hours have already been put into the restoration, with more to come. The project began in October 2008 with the bottom, replacing every butt blocks including the rudder and strut blocks. The bottom was recaulked, and hull sides routed to give definition, then repainted with z spar enamel paint. The old canvas top was removed, and the top/sides of the salon/cabin were re-done with fiberglass. The brightwork was stripped and refurbished, the wood and all molding was sanded and varnished with 8 coats of Epifanes. All of the interior cabinets and woodwork were stripped, sanded, repainted. *All of the hardware is original* Even the compass. Next (and included in the price) is the ceiling of the salon/cockpit that will be done in white perforated vinyl. Also all of the teak deck will be refinished. The head is being rebuilt and will be replaced. There is a new water heater and new seacocks as well. The boat is powered by twin 8.1 SeaMaxx motors. The starboard engine runs great, but the port engine is inoperable. The Westerbeke generator is also not running. Radar is operable but outdated, and not currently installed due to ceiling work. For the interested buyer: The wood deck/ceiling work are included in the price. If you would like to repower the boat, the owner will include the labor for no added cost. If you would like to upgrade the electronics, the owner will include the labor for no added cost. Any additional work you are interested in can be negotiated at a reduced rate.
