General Details
Nick and Pete Stamas learned boat building from Greek craftsman in Tarpon Springs, on Florida's Gulf coast. These skilled men built strong, seaworthy vessels based on proven designs that dated back hundreds of years. In the early years, they built commercial and deep sea charter fishing boats that still sail out of Tarpon Springs.
By the late 1950's, Pete and Nick recognized the potential of a then controversial material. Even though they loved traditional woodworking techniques, the Stamas brothers pioneered the use of fiberglass in boat construction. Stamas Yacht was among the first to capitalize on the design and structural possibilities of this new material. They switched completely from wood to fiberglass in 1959.
Their expertise in fiberglass boat building led them to develop boats for the U.S. and foreign militaries, patrol boats for law enforcement agencies and research/exploration vessels for several agencies and universities.
Many features that have become industry standards on boats were Stamas innovations. Fiberglass inner liners and self-bailing cockpits were created at Stamas. Always concerned with safety, the use of foam flotation in boat construction was applied. Such standard features as insulated and overboard draining fishing boxes and built-in livewells were first featured on Stamas boats.
Stamos Yachts remains one of the oldest, family-owned boat companies in the United States building boats with the same devotion to detail and respect for the sea that has been the hallmark of every Stamas boat for over 60 years.
For less than $30,000 here is your chance to own a piece of Florida and nautical history with innovation in two coveted brands--Stamas Yachts and Yamaha engines.
This namesake Stamas Tarpon is over 30 feet powered by twin 225 Salt Water Series 2-stroke motors. Max speed is 50mph @ 22gals per hour (both engines). Cruising speed is 28-30mph @ 10 gal per hour (both engines). The engines are reported in perfect conditions and running 100%... no corrosion and zinc anodes changed regularly. The lower units were sand blasted and new paint has not been applied.
Even after riding out a tropical storm safely in the racks, this boat was extraordinarily clean. The owner has several personal and commercial vessels and this is his favorite. She's clearly been very well maintained.
Loaded with all the factory specs +
Raymarine auto pilot & A550 GPS, Fusion Audio, ICOM comm set, this is a strealined CC with room to fish and room to relax with family and friends.
This boat does not look 12 years old and rides out her days out of the water in a high-end marina.
There were no signs of pitting nor corrision anywhere. Console looks new and is fully functional and updated. On the center console she has a full electric/manual toilet. .All electronics are basically new, the oldest equipment is the autopilot and the human interface and hydraulics are 2yrs old.
