General Details
Kindred Spirit, a 1978 Newport 41 based off the C&C Redline 41, was a semi-custom build for its original owner and is now offered for sale by her second owner. She has been meticulously maintained and thoughtfully upgraded over the years and offers the beauty and lines of a classic sloop, while providing all the accommodations and systems of today's standards.
This two-owner boat currently frequents the Charleston race-circuit (2nd in class Charleston Race Week 2012) and in previous years has taken the owner up and down the eastern seaboard, including Bermuda and the Bahamas, and further south to the Caribbean Islands. Those familiar with her hull design will surely know she excels at both cruising and racing.
If you're looking for an impeccably maintained and thoughtfully upgraded racer/cruiser with beautiful, classic lines, Kindred Spirit is for you.
Additional Equipment
In 2006 she had a major refit to include new standing and running rigging, new water and fuel tanks, and a new transmission among other system upgrades. She boasts two sets of sails. Her racing sails feature a UK Tape-Drive mainsail (2009) and a Quantum genoa (2009) as well as an additional genoa and three spinnakers. Her cruising sails are North Sails and are in good condition. See full specs for complete sail inventory. The bottom is blister free and just received a fresh coat of bottom paint and the prop is an upgraded 3-blade kiwi feathering prop for less drag while sailing and more maneuverability in reverse. Amenities include a diesel heater, ac, fridge, hot water, 3-burner Kenyon stove, cockpit cushions, and more. The interior features custom burled maple woodwork with mahogany trim, Celtic knot motif throughout, upgraded LED lights, and Delf tile in the galley. In addition to the standard safety equipment, she also comes with a newly-certified 8-man life-raft and 406 Epirb.
