General Details

2003 AScout 240 Bayscout.

  • Engine: 2003 Yamaha 250 HPDI on a Bob’s Machine Shop Jack Plate (2 stroke that is about as good with gas as the 4 stroke with same HP. All service work done at Jack's Interbay in Tampa)
  • Engine Hours: 356
  • Draft: (floating) Manufacturer says 11” but “realistic” is about 14” with 2 people and livewell (livewell alone adds 450lbs of water).
  • Draft: (running) With the jackplate all the way up it goes SKINNY… just need to find a little water to set it down.
  • Cruising Speed: About 35 at 4000 RPM.
  • Top Speed: 47 – 50mph at 5500 RPM depending on wind, load, etc.
  • Boat Batteries: 2 New Interstate Marine Batteries installed less than a year ago (original ones lasted 9yrs)
  • Trolling Motor: 24V Minn Kota 80lb (RT80) with co-pilot wireless remote. (2 brand new Optima Blue Top batteries installed May 2011 – original ones lasted 7 yrs)
  • Power Pole: 8ft XL Series with wireless remote. (Brand new pump, 3 months old with service record from Power Pole)
  • Jack Plate: Bob's machine shop.
  • Prop: Double cupped stainless with Bob's cavitation plate so it will run with jack plate all the way up.
  • Trailer: Float-On dual axle trailer (good shape), I rarely use it.

Electronics:

  • Garmin 882 GPS Map / Fish Finder
  • VHF Marine Radio (In electronics box under T Top)
  • Clarion Marine Stereo & Speakers.
  • Blue LED Gunnel Lighting
  • Spreader Light - T Top Light - Front Perko Light
  • Minn Kota 4 Battery Single Plug Charger (New May 2011, $400)

Other Stuff:

  • Aluminum T-Top (from factory) that has blue sunbrella (redone 3yrs ago to add lookout station).
  • 8 Rod holders on T-Top
  • Leaning post (with custom pad and 4 rod holders with storage beneath)
  • 60 Gallon Live/Release well (I use it as the main livewell) – Hooked up with 2 Rule pumps (I only use one unless I have threadfin for Tarpon).
  • 20 Gallon bow well (I store my castnets here but works perfectly)
  • 20 Gallon side livewell (I use this for storage as 60 gallons is more than enough).
  • Raw water washdown.
  • 92QT Cooler Seat with matching cushion.
  • 2 Rod Storage Lockers on each side of boat.
  • Center console has tons of storage and internal light.

Custom:

  • I’ve added a “lookout tower” on top of the T-Top from Quality T-Tops in Clearwater (the best in the business). It does not have “dual control” but there is a second station on top of the T-Top. It’s amazing for spotting fish and I have the wireless trolling motor and power pole so I can locate fish and anchor from the tower… it’s awesome.
  • I’ve also relocated the main boat batteries from the bilge area (ridiculous stock location) to under the center console. Same with Trolling batteries. This has evened out the weight of the boat and improved the draft from when I bought the boat.
  • I’ve added a “deck drain” and “double bilge pump” setup because the on-deck draining is not very good This fixed the problem.
