General Details
Completed in 2002, JESS SEA is the product of a number of years of, research, design, and high quality construction. Todays replacement cost is estimated at over $10 mil USD. After her first owner passed away early in the construction phase she received significat modification to the original sail plan and exterior deck design and was commissioned for the first time in 2002 by her current owner.
JESS SEA incorporates the most innovated thinking of her noted designer, Frank MacLear, who was the inventor of the boom-less mainsail and push botton controlled external mast furling. JESS SEA has hydraulic stainless winches and Reckman hydraulic furlers on Genoa, Jib, and Mainsails. Conceived as a go-anywhere world cruising sailing yacht, Jess Sea has many features not typically found on yachts her size including water tight engine room, structural crash bulkhead, massive aluminum scantlings, and a fully protected rudder and propeller. Her sail plan provides an impressive turn of speed, is easily managed, and particularly safe by virtue of her boomless design. These design features coupled with her shallow draft hull form (centerboards up - 6'10", boards down 17'), large volume interior, substantial storage capabilities and low maintenance exterior make Jess Sea the perfect family live aboard or blue water cruising vessel.
