General Details
A rare find since few can be seen in the United States although this seaworthy, sturdy pocket cruiser/racer became very popular and highly respected in Europe! Built to Swedish Royal Navy standards, exceeding Lloyd’s requirements, the Havsfidra, with hull and rig over dimensioned, has made notable journeys across the Atlantic and the Arctic Sea. A testimony to her seaworthiness is that in the 1966 exceptionally hard ocean racing Skaw Race, when 100 of the 157 starting boats did not finish, a Havsfidra placed second in Class V and best Swedish boat.
In 1968, another sistership placed 13th and second with handicap rules in the Single Handed Transatlantic Race, crossing the Atlantic in 40 days, 14 hours, about the same time as Chichester with a much larger boat in 1960.
Pippi, serial number 301 of approximately 400, is now for sale in Santa Cruz. A Spartan tandem-axle welded steel trailer with surge brakes, extended tongue and Surg-O-Matic trailer brakes is for sale separately.
