This is a feature not found on any other 74 presently on the market. Access is also possible from the pilothouse area forward on either side.   From the large molded-in swim platform, the aft deck is accessed via open transom with spiral staircase up to the aft deck on the starboard side. Sizable storage Bowsun’s locker for lines, diving gear, cleaning equipment etc, is accessed from the aft platform.   The aft deck features a beautiful dining table with chairs and teak sole. This stateroom features a queen centerline island berth, storage drawers and hanging locker, Halogen lighting, entertainment console, and overhead hatch.   Adjacent to the day head to port is the crew/second guest cabin with upper and lower bunks. The upper is hinged for headroom clearance when used as a single cabin. This cabin has its own ensuite head with shower, lighted vanity, storage, sink, and toilet.   There is an over/under washer dryer in the lower companionway. The generator room is accessed via floor hatch and houses the air condition compressors, forward fire system and water supply components .   Access to the mid ship VIP is down the staircase aft. Vessel Background
This 1997 74’ Hatteras was purchased in Charleston, SC with the following criteria: Cats, Hardtop, Opening Windows, Owner’s Suite Office layout. This boat was custom built in 1997 for an owner who specified opening windows in the Salon/Galley.   The vessel, previously known as Gumbo, ex-Solar Express, ex-Joey, was re-commissioned Wyndsong.   Hatteras had gone to a fixed window design by 1997, requiring the custom specification by the original owner.   The boat was re-painted in 2010, all windows and were ports pulHalogen out, reconditioned, powder coated and re-instalHalogen. All windows, including the helm windows, were reinstalHalogen with new, state-of-the-art, adhesive sealers. They should provide many years of service.   During the painting process in 2010, there was a passage cut through the upper-deck to the davit serviced boat deck. There was also an awning made for the boat deck which extends on two poles out about 10 feet.   In 2011, her interior was updated including new seating, carpets and headliner throughout the boat. Included was a re-fit of the leather helm seat and trim in the lower helm. Interior Design was by Cher Columbus Design.   During this re-fit, all televisions were replaced with LCDs and new Direct TV tuners, with a DVR in the Salon. The old Bose stereo system was replaced with a new Bose system with more features and the Nils amp and speaker selection pre-amp, with 4 zone selectors were retained.   Speaker selection can be controlled through the Nils pre-amp/selector. Note: The Bose unit is used not only for the television in the main salon, but also to channel Direct TV music channels to the salon and aft deck.   Wyndsong carries extensive electronics: NOTE: This information is from the owner when all the work was completed, please have your surveyor verify the accuracy. There are two 72 mile radars: a commercial Furuno and a State-of-the-Art Ray Marine High Definition Radar. Opted to keep the Furuno commercial radar as it continues to provide superior service and, despite the amazing display offered by the new Ray Marine radar, we still use the Furuno as the primary navigation radar. The Ray Marine has dual distance-split screen capabilities on radar and is superior at separating and distinguishing targets at distance, but there’s just something about that old Furuno that keeps us coming back! Added NVti Night Vision, as we often navigate Hawk Chanel at night on our way to Ocean Reef. Primary Chart Navigation aid is a computer based Nobeltec software package. This system, as it is with the other two backup GPS units, has its own Antenna. The Nobletec system interfaces with XM Marine Satellite Weather in an overlay. As a note, the new Nobletec software, Destiny, does not as yet support SAT weather so we have not adopted it on the bridge as yet. A quick critique: The current Nobeltec software runs on a Windows XT platform loaded on to a dual core computer on the lower helm. UPDATE: April 23, 2012 –upgraded to an I5 Lenovo Windows 7 machine on the bridge. Added the Nobeltec Odyssey system. There are four Ray Marine E-type monitors and 2 display units Two monitors and one display unit in the lower helm and two monitors and one display unit in the upper helm. These units display: True/Apparent Wind Speed (helpful for docking), Depth, GPS, Speed, Radar, single or split screen (dual range) AIS The Ray Marine units also show other AIS units, and their IDs, in the GPS mode. The Ray Marine Network is loaded with a Navionics Gold Card. We have a Navionics Platinum Card of Florida and the Bahamas on board but have found that the 3-D features and pictures don’t get used. The tradeoff is that the Platinum Card has limited charts. We opted for the full coverage of the Gold Card. The Gold card is up-to-date as of January 2012. The Gold Chart pak includes ALL Charts of ALL US WATERS and the Bahamas. There are a total of 8 cameras on Board: 2 look aft, one down each side port and starboard 2 look aft from the lower aft deck: 1 on the aft deck looking at the dingy tow when underway and at overtaking traffic 1 on the Sat TV Mast looking down at the swim platform for crew line paying out or in the dingy and for docking stern in. 2 in the main engine room 1 in the generator room The NVTI acts as the 8th camera All cameras are tied to an extended record DVR for monitoring when we are away. As a Note: Individual Cameras and Groups of Cameras may be selected, up to 4 cameras, on any of the Ray Marine display modules. There are 2 VHF ICOM radios in the lower helm, both with selective calling and emergency transmission of position. There is 1 VHF ICOM radio, identical to lower helm, on the upper helm. There is a SSB radio on the lower helm There is a loud hailer (fore and aft and fog horn) on the lower helm. Sirius satellite radio on the upper deck and new speakers. There is a TV on the upper deck. TV and individual satellite boxes in each state room and the crew quarters. Wind speed/wind direction is through an ultrasonic detector at the top of the radio mast. No moving parts. The “radio mast” is hydraulically operated so that you can clear bridges that up would normally have to wait for. Upgraded stock stabilizers with a version that provides much faster reaction time. There is both an ice maker and refrigerator in the salon and upper deck. Replaced the Izing Glass on the upper deck front 2/3s with EZ2CY, which is closer to glass than the plastic Izing glass. The EZ2CY units are simply unzipped and swung up into snaps on the underside of the upper deck. Wyndsong has salt water to fresh water desalinization unit. Replaced almost all of the on board pumps with top of the line Oberdorfer pumps. Prop speed on running gear.   Wyndsong burns about 22 gallons an hour at 10 knots with both generators running. At Cruising Speed, 20 knots, we burn about 82 gallons an hour. The performance chart, Speed vs. GPH and found that 19.8 knots is the sweet spot at about 78 gallons per hour.
