General Details

This Cape Dory 28, designed by Carl Alberg, was purchased new in 1979 and maintained beautifully by the knowledgable owner, who cruised her to Mexico, the South Pacific, and Hawaii twice with many cruises to Mexico and Southern California. The current owner purchased her from the original owner a year ago and completely refit her for a planned cruise to Mexico with new electronics, deck gear, spares, and redundancies for all systems, including dual fuel filters and spare tiller. This extraordinary seaworthy and seakindly boat features a cut-away full keel with attached rudder, high motion comfort, and a solid one-piece fiberglass hull. The model proved to be so successful as a reliable cruising vessel in the classical style that nearly 500 were built! Today it is more seaworthy than most much larger fin-keeled cruising sailboats.

Don’t let the age fool you, though. Levon, powered by a 20 hp Yanmar inboard with less than 100 hours diesel installed 2011 has seen a number of modern upgrades in 2013. Some of these include a new stainless chainplates with new partial bulkhead for extra strength, Sunbrella dodger, Raymarine a-67 touch-screen chart plotter/digital color sonar/radar/autopilot, Raymarine radar dome with Garhauer hoist and support poles, and Lowrance Link8 VHF with AIS and hailer that emits legally required fog signals and also "listens" in the fog. For details and inventory, please see Full Specs.

Hauled and bottom painted with two coats of anti-fouling paint August, 2012. Get your supplies onboard and plan to go cruising; this vessel needs only the spirited sailor!
