General Details

Kalik is a custom designed and build sailing catamaran for worldwide, fast cruising. Advanced hullshape, wa v e piercing, aft raked bows and a high wingdeck clearance ensure comfortable and fast cruising with no pounding or pitching. Here powerfull Sailplan provides Kalik with speeds up to 30 knots. Cruising Speed with Engines is about 9 knots. However, Kalik is designed as a pure sailing machine and the engines are kept small and light.   A large solar array on the roof is charging Lithium/Ion batteries and the generator is just a backup. The Generator must be used for filling dive tanks with the electrical Brownie dive compressor and for heating water with the electrical water heaters. The Electra Scan Waste treatment system allows the use of relative small holding tanks.   Kalik is a performance sailing yacht and not a prestige orientated luxury toy. All systems are designed to be as light and efficient as possible with low maintenance. A clever ventilation concept and a airy interiour replaces heavy, power consuming and complicated air conditioning. Here roomy and very contemporary interiour is offering all necessary Comfort and is easy to keep clean. Floors are Kork. The sophistcated solar system combined with high tech Lithium/Ion batteries reduces generator time to a absolute minimum. Freezer, refrigerators, navigation, lights, Winches , etc . run eas ily on Solar Power. Kalik is a clean, comf or table Cruising Yacht and is riding the Green Wave.   Unfortunately the owner has private issues and won't be able to start his planned circum navigation in the near futur e . He decided to sell Kalik so soon after her Launch. On here first voyage from Newport Beach to Cabo San Lucas Kalik easely maintened speeds around 20 knots. As to expect on a brandnew boat, first "Bugs" showed up and all issues been corrected in Cabo. Kalik is still covered by the Guarantee of Westerly Marine until April 2011.   The owner was spending about 3,9 Million US Dollars on Construction, Design and Equipment.
