General Details

The exact number of yachts built by Hillyard's is not known. It could have been as many as 800 and there are records of around 600 with tonnages between 2.5 and 29. The yachts quality of sea kindliness is legendary.
David Hillyard established his reputation as a builder of pinnaces and other small wooden vessels for the Admiralty in the First World War. In the very early 1920's he commenced building sailing yachts at the yard in Littlehampton for private ownership.

This boat is built in Essex England and has sailed across the Atlantic and Pacific to Japan and back. She is a tiller double ender that trims really nice. The sails are new and the motor and transmission has little hours since a rebuild. Batteries have been replaced 2014 and the electrical has been upgraded. The galley gimbaled stove is Stainless Alcohol fueled, but has not been used for 10 years. The FW tank is the original galvanized steel and is used for sink water mainly. I usually carried bottled water for the taste. I have owned it for about 10 years and have maintained her in excellent condition. The dodger, sail covers, and sail bags are new as well. Engine hours is low, but no meter to verify. Owner has been a marine mechanic for 40+ years and am confident as to the condition of the motor, The transmission has been rebuilt a couple years ago as well.3.All in all, this boat has been owned and expertly maintained by a marine professional. Everything has been freshly painted and varnished last year. Haul out and survey in April 2014. Electronics are minimum, galley stove could use servicing, and FW tank cover needs replacement.
