Amazing Value from one of the foremost designer & builders in the Northwest, Ed Monk Sr. & Nordlund Boat Company of Tacoma, Washington.
- Built by Nordlund Boat Company in Tacoma Washington with the pedigree of one of their last wooden carefully constructed vessels, and she is reputed to be the last boat designed by legendary designer Ed Monk, Sr. His design reflects the many decades of his increasing expertise. When she came down the ways in 1973, the new boat was 58' long, with a 17' beam and a 4'6" draft. She was built with 1-1/2" X 2-1/2" oak frames, clear fir stringers, and spruce laterals. Hull Planking is 5/4" Honduras mahogany below the waterline, and British Columbia red cedar above. Her gunwales are teak, and the superstructure is constructed of plywood and fir. Teak side decks and cockpit, with nonskid fiberglass decks on forward trunk cabin top and boat deck. Covered side decks and cockpit with port side and transom doors. Her large pilothouse has entry doors to either side and doors thru the hull sides to ease docking. The saloon has an aft door to cockpit and port door to the side deck. . The "U" shaped galley is on the starboard forward end of the salon level with bar and general storage opposite. Down three steps top full width master stateroom with en-suite head with bath-tub. Going forward thru stateroom to guest stateroom with head & shower.The entire interior is teak with accents of wall covering. The yacht shows excellent care.
- Electronic and Navigation Systems Ed Monk Sr. had some serious navigation in mind when he drew this amazing bridge. The Nav Systems and Electronics were chosen and laid out for ease of use and dependable operation. Quality components were chosen at time of installation. Care was taken so that Pilothouse has a logical layout of components and controls. - Saloon & Galley
- The saloon is trimmed entirely in teak and has band new carpet on the sole. As you walk in from the cockpit you have a large settee to port with two Elkornes chairs with ottomans to starboard. Forward to the starboard is the U-shaped galley. There is a large peninsula with storage below and provides plenty of prep space for meals. A liquor locker and general stowage cabinetry is nicely fit on the port side of the saloon with entry door to the port side deck just forward.
- "Morning Watch" is a two-stateroom configuration, but will sleep about seven in her guest and master stateroom accomodations. .
- Engine room, Mechanical, and Electrical Details
- The walk in engine room has a stand up forward area with a workbench and all ships electrical panels forward. The engines are accessible aft with less than standing headroom. Twin 903 Cummins are well maintained and indicate 5600 hours. Both have Capitol reverse gears. A hydraulic system powers the anchor windlass, boat deck davit and the Naiad Stabilizers. A Kohler 12kw generator provides ship's power. Their are three aluminum fuel tanks with an estimated total capacity of 900 gallons. - Pilothouse roof/Boat Deck The Pilothouse rooftop provides plenty of room for the ships navigation electronics. Just aft is the Classic Monk faux smoke stack with an aluminum mast for navigation lights, antennas, and flag halyards. Aft of the mast is an enormous boat deck with tender and kayaks.
