3/10/2015 UPDATE:

Price just dropped over $6k to sell now. Seller was sailing in heavy winds when one of the dock lines snapped, causing two little holes, just a bit smaller than a fist, in the hull. Seller was quoted that it will cost $4k to fix hull. This price drop more than compensates for the fixes needed. Pictures of damage coming soon!

This Hunter 31 is a well proven blue water boat. She is engineered for those long distance races and cruises, or a favorite around the buoy races.

Hunter Marine introduced the Hunter 31 in 1983, and it remained in production for four years. They are fun to sail with a real big-boat feel. The tight, cable-linked wheel steering offers a responsive helm while cruising comfortably at 5 to 6 knots. The high bow and unusually high freeboard for a 31-footer make for a dry sailing boat in the normal range of cruising conditions.

The Hunter 31 is a wonderful weekender/cruiser. Above deck she offers a very comfortable "T" shaped cockpit with raised helm seat, high comings and large lazerettes. Lines led aft are easy to reach for safe solo or short handed sailing. Wide side decks allow easy passage fore and aft. Full bimini provides protection from sun and rain.

At 9,000 pounds, the Hunter 31 is light enough not to need a windlass. The ground tackle can be paid out and retrieved manually. A procedure facilitated by the easily accessed anchor well and bow roller.

Below decks, the Hunter 31 has a dinette that seats four to starboard, and there's a settee to port. The galley is simple yet functional offering all the conveniences one would expect form a well appointed coastal cruiser. The head is forward on the starboard side. For a 31 it offers ample room in a functional layout. The berth forward offers comfortable accommodations in for a vessel of her size and the berth aft offers a full 6" memory foam mattress for comfort.

The Hunter 31 offers a very practical boat for coastal cruising with simple systems that are easy to maintain while her lines offer a very racy look that is pleasing to the eye. Hunter 31's really stand out from the fleet.

Mechanically this vessel is in very good condition. She starts and runs no problem. Just hauled out for bottom paint - June 2014 She has lots of room in the cabin. The current owners lived aboard for two years comfortably. DC wiring is unorthodox; some wires go directly to the batteries rather than being run through a circuit breaker. The floor of the cockpit looks slightly crazed, but it has been tested for moisture twice and the core tests completely dry with the moisture meter. Running Rigging is in fair to poor condition, will need to be replaced before open-sea sailing. Icebox compressor is broken, functions solely as a cooler. Water pressure not functioning properly, needs to be repaired.
