The Seabird yachts were built in the 70's and 80's in Hialeah Florida. They have proved to be a very popular sport fisher or family cruiser. They were competitive to the Bertram and Hatteras yachts of their size range and the hulls were built exceptionally strong.
This boat has had some upgrades such as new upholstery, new throttle cables, good maintenance program, and the twin Crusader engines are in the 225 Hp range making the boat reasonably economical. Although we are not sure of the water and fuel amounts, we estimate in the 150 gal. of fuel and about 85 water. There are few electronics on the boat at this time since when purchased by the current owner were removed do to age and lack of dependability. The boat needs a low end electronic package. There is a RIB tender with a 9.9 Johnson OB that is part of the package, .There are no blisters on the hull and the windows are fully opening including the lower cabin ones front and sides. There are controls on the fly bridge and in the cabin.
One must remeber that boats built before 1972/3 had far better quality resins that were not diluted due to cost. This yacht will make a great boat for the economically motivated buyer, and you will find this DEEP VEE yacht a pleasure to run. The engines are in good running order and tanks appear in good condition. with low use. Give us a call for a showing
Ever watch Ship Shape TV? It is rumored that a Seabird is John Grevaskis personal and favorite boat. I know from personal experience a 28 Sea Bird will out run a 28' Bertram in almost all sea states.
A NEWPORT BEACH SLIP CAN BE RETAINED FOR $ 300.00 MONTHLY.
- Understanding the Sea Bird 28
- The beauty of this yacht is actually the age. It needs some paint work, but if you understand the design, along with the fact that Resins used before 1972 we far higher quality that after that time. There are never blisters found on these boat. The design was well ahead of it's time, and when hauled out last June, we found no voids or any problems other than the trim tabs need repair. The DEEP VEE design with air streaks and level chines give this vessel an excellent ride. The electronics were taken off due to age and and the shape of the bottom all work together far an excellent perfuming yacht. The price is very low for this quality of a boat, and if you are willing to do a few thing to her, then it will serve you well for many years. The seller is moving up to a larger boat as soon as he sells this one, so some reasonable offers will be considered.
