General Details

The 1975 33 Sport Sedan, the Chris 33 Catalina earned an enviable reputation over the years as a durable mid-size family cruiser in spite of her stiff ride and plain-Jane interior. Obviously dated by today's standards, enough 33 Catalinas were sold to keep used models in circulation for a long time to come. Her efficient galley-down interior includes a compact salon with lower helm and sofa, a dinette opposite the galley on the lower level, and a double-entry head compartment. (The early 33 Sport Sedan models had a two-stateroom floorplan with the galley up in the salon.) Wrap around cabin windows provide good ventilation and allow for excellent natural lighting inside. A sliding glass door opens to the cockpit where a ladder leads up to a very small flybridge. Like most Chris Craft boats of her era, the hull is built of solid fiberglass with balsa coring in the decks and cabintop. Long out of production, used Chris 33 Catalinas can still offer a lot of boat for a budget-minded family seeking a roomy cruiser. Twin 250-hp gas inboards, among several engine options offered over the years, will cruise at 17-18 knots and reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 25 knots.
