General Details

The Downeast 38 was conceived by Bob Poole, a Maine sailor transplanted to the West Coast, as a “classic cruising yacht utilizing modern materials and technology where they belong while retaining the traditional features of the fine early cruising yachts of Down East. According to The Proper Yacht, 2nd edition, the result was a straightforward common-sense boat that will evoke a nostalgic twinge in those who remember what sailboats used to look like. Very well maintained, this particular original owner vessel  has a warm, roomy, inviting interior, a Volvo diesel installed in 1992 with low hours, and will serve as a solid family cruising boat or a comfortable liveaboard. Recently hauled and bottom painted. Extensive exterior cosmetic improvements 2014, also new running rigging, new batteries, starter, and wiring.
