General Details
(LOCATION: Cruising US & Mexico West Coast. Re-fit completed March 2013 (see major items below). Now US flagged!) The Oyster 72 is a spacious Rob Humphreys designed cruiser that provides the performance, style, and luxury desired by the discriminating sailor. Holo Kai provides an exclusive cruising experience and is rated for transoceanic voyages. Her owner operates her with a crew of three, an experienced captain, mate and chef who are interested in staying on with the next owner.
On deck we have a big comfortable cockpit with dodger, bimini, wraparound seating for 10 people. The cockpit table incorporates a deck fridge and cool box for drinks, and unfolds ingeniously at meal times. The huge cockpit is perfect for enjoying the sea air, entertaining, and alfresco dining. Other features include: dual helm pedestals allowing a straight walk-through from the transom/passerelle, swim platform with deck shower, quarter seats, float free life rafts, dorades and foredeck sun bed. A 4m Avon RIB with 40-hp Honda outboard motor provides thin water access and can be used to tow the waterskis, wakeboard, and inflatable stored aboard.
The roomy interior is what you've come to expect from Oyster, great-looking, well-finished, and extremely comfortable. When you come below you find a large dinette with maple table with seating for 6, which can be supplemented by matching directors chairs. To starboard is additional seating and nav station with chart table. An HD TV with DVD provides entertainment when it is time to relax. A full galley is forward, separate from the salon.
There are five staterooms with owner and guest cabins aft and crew quarters forward. The master aft cabin is designed to provide the comforts expected with queen berth, ample storage, flat screen TV, and en suite head with vanity and shower. There are two guest cabins, one double and another with twin bunks. They share a guest/day head with vanity and shower. The crew quarters are located in the bow with two private cabins, one double, one twin both with separate en suite head, shower and vanity.
This is a beautiful Oyster 72 with upscale interior, classic design and flawless craftsmanship. Not many are built and few are currently on the market and none can match the attributes of Holo Kai. Continually upgraded, she features many new items along with an exceptional electronics package that includes: Raymarine auto pilot and tri-data displays, Furuno chart plotter , radar, GPS, and a integrated marine PC running MaxSea software. A VHF radio, Fleet 150 satellite antenna, and extended range WIFI complete the electronics. Auxiliary power is provided by a Perkins 225-hp diesel engine. Equipped with a 22.5kW Onan generator, Seafresh water maker, and considerable storage she is well equipped, meticulously maintained with an open checkbook, and ready to sail. Specifications
- Overview
- The combination of Formula spars rig, Rob Humpreys hull lines and styling, and arrangements plan from the Oyster Design Team have created a yacht with a stunning outboard profile with lots of curves. Her hull has been optimised to provide generous beam, not just amidships but both forward and aft helping create a really spacious interior. A soft entry for her forward sections and reasonably generous freeboard will help make the 72 dry in a seaway. A low centre of gravity modified bulb keel, linked with good hull form stability, gives the 72 a good righting moment, contributing to comfortable sea keeping.
