General Details

This beautifully maintained 1986 Tartan 34-2 (34 MkII) is located in Newington, New Hampshire.  Designed by the revered firm of Sparkman and Stephens, and built in Hamlet, North Carolina, the 34-2 embodies everything a sailboat has to offer for the coastal sailor or the blue water yachtsman.  From 1984 through to 1989, 110 boats were built and they featured a mast head rig with double spreaders and a baby stay.

SOUTH WIND is a fine example of a Tartan 34-2.  Lovingly maintained by her current owner; she is a well-kept and very clean performance cruising sailboat.  Ruggedly built, SOUTH WIND will offer her new owner safe and reliable cruising for many years to come.  With a “Scheel” keel molded into the hull structure, SOUTH WIND has a shoal draft of 4’5”; perfect for coastal cruising.  Her auxiliary power is supplied by a YANMAR 27 horsepower engine, which has been professionally maintained and serviced.  Her sail inventory includes a fully battened main with a Dutchman system, and Schaeffer roller furling for the 130% genoa for easy sail handling.  Below decks SOUTH WIND has a beautiful teak and holly cabin sole, solid teak cabinetry and veneers to give this boat a warm and classic look.  The functional galley will appeal to the most discriminating cook, and the navigation table is well situated with all the electronics within easy reach.  A fold down dinette in the main salon with settee’s port and starboard offers ample space for dining.  Just aft of the V-berth is a private head with a hand held shower.  The forward V berth is large and accommodating with integrated shelving outboard on each side, and a hanging locker.

If you are in the market for a well maintained and very clean 34 foot cruising boat, then your quest has ended here.  Ideal for a young family stepping up to a larger cruising sailboat, or the ardent sailor looking for a fast, comfortable, safe and reliable boat; this Tartan 34-2 has it all.
