FREE SPIRIT, 90' Broward Cpt. M/Y 1990

FREE SPIRIT is seriously for sale by a two boat owner ready to do business. His active involvement in a new business start-up has compromised his available time for boating. FREE SPIRIT was built to exacting specifications exceeding the typical Broward. This is a reasonably priced yacht that will reward her next owners again and again.

FREE SPIRIT  was originally built for a high ranking executive with a national car rental agency.  A long time boater with demanding specifications resulted in a highly unique and special Broward yacht known for several years as MOON RIVER.  Now offered as FREE SPIRIT , she retains all of her original specifications with no extensions.  The spacious cockpit and open aft deck are particularly nice for family cruising and watersports.  Additionally, her teak joinery which is seen throughout, is some of the finest woodworking one would hope to see on a vessel of this vintage.
Accommodations and Layout
FREE SPIRIT sleeps 8 owners and guests in 3 staterooms.  Crew accommodations include 3 berths in 2 staterooms, and 2 heads and showers.  The Captain's quarters are separate.  The vessel has a minimum of 6' 7" headroom throughout.  The woodwork in all the staterooms is varnished teak including bulkhead paneling, door trim and facings, and all built-in furniture.  All corners are radiused and all built-in cabinet tops are finished with a pleasing bull nose edge in true yacht fashion.
FREE SPIRIT offers 8 berths in three double staterooms amidship with an additional two staterooms for crew and/or guests forward.  The Master and two Guest staterooms are accessed by stairs down from the main salon.  The Master is forward from the stairway vestibule and has a centerline king sized berth with linen drawers beneath.  There are three cedar lined hanging closets in the master and a built-in settee to port.  Additional drawer bureaus are outboard and an entertainment center built-in on the aft bulkhead which included Panasonic TV, VCR, DVD, and Proton CD cassette deck.  The master head is ensuite and has tile flooring, Corian counter and sink, and a large Jacuzzi tub with shower. The master stateroom has several opening ports to port and starboard for natural light and ventilation.  There is overhead and bedside lighting as well as indirect lighting in the valances and around the bed.
Guest staterooms
The two guest staterooms are aft of the master to port and starboard.  They are mirror images of each other and furnished with twin lower berths as well as a Pullman berth mounted on the center bulkhead.  A bedside table separates the twin berths and there are storage drawers beneath.  Each stateroom has a good sized cedar hanging locker.  Each stateroom also has an ensuite head with tile flooring, glass enclosed stall showers, and Corian counters with sinks.  There are independent Panasonic TV’s as well as Nakamici CD players and am/fm tuners.  Two opening ports enhance each stateroom as well as a variety of other lighting sources. Off the vestibule separating the staterooms are separate stowage closets for linens and cleaning equipment as well as a built-in laundry station with stacked Asko washer and dryer.  Hardware and fixtures in all stateroom areas are of very high quality including heavy duty double mortise door latching hardware.
Main Deck
The main deck is comprised of an open aft deck, main salon, day head, companionway to starboard of the raised pilothouse, and the spacious country style galley and dinette forward.  Access to the yacht’s interior is either from the lower cockpit aft, or from mid ship boarding gates to port and starboard.
Stepping from the dock onto the teak covering boards surrounding the aft cockpit there are steps down into the teak decked cockpit and then up several steps to the teak clad aft deck.  A varnished teak hi-lo table with six matching TriConfort folding arm chairs makes this a favorite area for lounging and alfresco dining.
Main Salon
Entering the main salon   from the aft deck there are large, teak framed double doors with sculpted glass going forward.  With these doors open, the effect from the main salon is beautifully expansive, particularly with the large side windows and natural light on hand.  Alternatively the doors can be closed and Silhouette shades dropped for intimate privacy.  The main salon is furnished with a generous sized off white upholstered sectional, matching swivel chair, and dark leather recliner.   An attractive, glass topped maple burl cocktail table and matching end tables completes the salon lounge area.  Numerous lighting options will enhance every situation and a built-in entertainment center is aft to starboard complete with Sharp flat screen TV, and audio video equipment in teak cabinets. Forward to port in the main salon is a built-in teak writing desk with filing and storage drawers beneath. Along the forward bulkhead is the salon wet bar with a polished brass sink and back-lit glass storage above.  Below the granite bar counter are the built in Sub-Zero refrigerator and separate U-line stainless steel icemaker.
Raised Pilothouse
The raised pilothouse can be accessed from either side of the main salon.  There are also side doors port and starboard for access to the yacht’s exterior and these doors are also fitted with screen doors for fresh air during clement weather.  To starboard is the main fore and aft passageway with the day head inboard and just aft of the pilothouse.
Forward of the pilothouse on the main deck is the galley and built-in dining banquette which are fully open to each other in the all popular country kitchen style.  The spacious galley is U shaped to port with white Corian countertops with generous working areas for the chef and crew, or for the hands-on owner and guests. A 2-door Maytag refrigerator/freezer faces forward from the aft bulkhead.  Additional appliances include Frigidaire dishwasher, GE Spectra 4 burner glass top range and oven, GE Profile microwave, and Kohler sink with KitchenAid disposal.  There is also a tap for instant hot water.   Forward to port is the built-in dining banquette with Corian top and plenty of seating. Storage is abundant in the galley area and large windows along both sides of the yacht provide natural light and excellent viewing.  Additionally there are plenty of overhead and indirect lighting options in this area.
Crew Quarters
The crew quarters are accessed from the country kitchen/galley area.  Stairs going forward descend to a center hallway.  There is a VIP or Captain’s cabin forward with centerline queen berth.  The stateroom is furnished with a Toshiba TV and cedar hanging locker plus ample drawer storage.  An overhead deck hatch provides light and ventilation as well as ready access to the foredeck.  Aft to port is a second cabin with upper and lower berths and cedar locker.  Opposite is a crew dinette and laundry center with built-in, full sized Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer. The crew head and separate stall shower are located between the two cabins on the port side.
Engine Room
The full width, stand-up engine room is accessed through a watertight door from the crew quarters.  There is an aluminum work bench forward starboard with a sturdy bench vise and bench grinder above a large Craftsman tool box.  The engine room layout is excellent with easy access to all systems.  A review of equipment and engineering details give evidence this is a special and highly custom Broward.
