General Details

This 1978, 28 foot Cape Dory is located in South Bristol, Maine.

Designed by the famous naval architect, Carl Alberg, whose conservative design style seldom vacillated, the Cape Dory 28 features a full-length keel with attached rudder, relatively low freeboard, a very handsome sheer and a well-proportioned traditional cabin trunk.  Comfort, stiffness, and predictable sailing qualities are just some of the attributes of the Cape Dory 28.  The Cape Dory 28 is easily sailed by the novice and so well behaved performance wise that even an experienced sailor can appreciate.

WE’Z FREE is a very well maintained and recently refurbished example of this classic design. Having under gone many recent upgrades, she is truly a turnkey boat.  Current improvements include new toe rails, standing rigging, thru hulls and the stern tube.  All the deck hardware was completely removed and re-bedded.  The main and jib sails were new in 2003.  Also in 2003, a Harken roller furling was added, as was a new dodger, steering compass and lifelines.  In 2006 a Garmin chart plotter was new.  In 2008 the batteries were replaced with 2 group 27 series, new two burner propane stove, 12 volt panel, holding tank and macerator, as well as all new running rigging.  Also, a pressurized water system was installed in 2008.
If you are in the market for a small turnkey coastal cruiser with offshore potential, classic good looks, and great sailing qualities, then look no further than this pristine Cape Dory 28.
