General Details
'Ruggen' is currently the only known North American built cutter based on the original Colin Archer design. The construction of this magnificent 41 foot single mast vessel, was overseen by the builder from the keel up. There is no expense spared when it comes to quality and craftsmanship. The hull is planked from old growth Vancouver Island Douglas Fir, and framed with white oak from Kentucky. The boat has traditional copper sheeting below the water line, and when not sailing is powered by a John Deere diesel engine.
Colin Archer, the famed Norwegian Navel Architect and Shipbuilder, designed some of the most noteworthy sailing vessels of the late 19th and early 20th century. The reputation of his designs is legendary and includes sailing ships which were on the first excursions to the North and South poles. “Ruggen's" quality is a tribute to that legacy and she will take you anywhere you want to go.
