General Details

55’ CROWTHER/Alwoplast Cruising PowerCat 2001

New to the market at $749,000

This is a pristine, well-built, composite power Cat with an honest economical range of 1,500 n.m. at 15 kts. A cruising range of 2800 to 3000 miles can be attained at 8 to 10 kts.

AVALON is constructed from high-tech multi-axial stitched e-glass PVC foam sandwich to achieve light weight and
outstanding performance.

She cruises at 15 knots and tops out above 20 kts. with 350 horsepower CATERPILLARS

Whether offshore or dockside this is an impressive vessel for cruising, entertainment and recreation.

This is a well-designed "trawler-type" powerCat in a striking modern style, with the high payload, speed, manoeuvrability and stability demanded by our clients for serious offshore cruising. She incorporates boarding platforms as well as a complete flybridge with engine controls, steering station and instruments.

The hull and bulb design has proven its seaworthiness and ocean crossing capabilities. Matched to the appropriate propulsion system, the fuel consumption during its maiden voyage from Valdivia, Chile to her home port in New England averaged just above 1 gallon per mile, one of the most seaworthy and fuel efficient PowerCats on the market today.

This is a powerful, easily handled, and economical to operate vessel with features normally available only on much larger powerboats and rarely seen on yachts like central heating, watermaker, 6.5 kW and 12 kW Generators,
2 x 2.5 kW Inverter/Chargers.
Owner dedicated fwd stateroom has head w/double sinks, shower and adjoining laundry room;
one guest cabin, day head and shower, complete galley with commercial stove, double sinks, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

The owners will look at "reasonable" offers.

This is a real opportunity for the serious PowerCat buyer!!

Construction
Hull built of vacuum bagged composite construction of closed cell Divinylcell PVC foam, multiaxial stretched fabrics, vinylester and epoxy resin under the design scrutiny, laminate schedules and analyses of Crowther Multihulls/Australia. Hand laid up superstructure. The original owner of AVALON chose Alwoplast because of its 13 year history of building successful multihull "one-offs". Located at 40 degrees South in Chile, the yard is used to building vessels that can withstand the severe conditions encountered there. Hulls have bulbous bows for increased buoyancy.
Pilothouse
From the after galley/dining area, steps lead up to the large pilothouse/salon. To starboard and forward is an elevated and carpeted helm station with two helm chairs. Immediately behind the helm station on the starboard after bulkhead is a communication area. Electronics here and at the helm are top of the line. Under the helm console are drawers for charts, etc. Outboard of the helm are the 110V AC and 12VDC electrical panels. Overhead in the pilothouse are two hatches with screens. On the port side of the pilothouse is an elevated, built-in "U" shaped settee with a hi-low table that converts to a berth. There are (2) brass swing arm 110V lamps here, as well as cove lighting under the valances to port & starboard and 12V halogens & courtesy lights throughout the pilothouse.
